I SOLISTI DI PERUGIA PDF Print E-mail

"I Solisti di Perugia" was formed at the beginning of the New Millennium and quickly became the most respectable string orchestra in the Italian music landscape. The musicians in the group have a new and unique approach to interpreting a wide variety of music, with their foundation in classical Italian chamber music ensambles. They experiment, they focus critically on details, they produce a fascinating, lively and expressive sound.
The orchestra belongs to the most important Italian Concert Societies and it has received important recognition all over the world. From 2001 to today the group has been the only guest orchestra in the artistic program of the Kusatsu Festival (Japan). In 2002, it performed in Greece at a party celebrating the Italian Republic. In 2003, it inaugurated the semester during which Italy was President of the European Union with a concert in Rome at the magnificent monument "Altare della Patria" in Piazza Venezia. In 2004 it had the honor of giving a concert for the japanese Royal Family in Kusatsu, and in 2007 and 2008 they played with the japanese Empress Michiko.
During its yearly tours (Japan, Spain, United States of America, Germany, Greece), the string orchestra plays from a large repertoire of music, reproducing the specific language of each composition according to its historical period, from Baroc music to Classic repertoire, from some rare but special Romantic compositions, to a large variety of expressions of the Italian Ninteenth Century music.
The open minded and artistically sensitive musicians were able to challange themselves with Jazz music, in a project entitled "A tribute to Charlie Parker", first performed at the Umbria Jazz Festival. The Ensamble, with the extraordinary contribution of saxophonist Francesco Cafiso, was able to bring back to life the music of the famous "Bird", during several successful concerts in some of the most important Italian Jazz Festivals. In June 2007, the "I Solisti" orchestra and Cafiso played at the popular "Birdland Jazz Club" in New York. In 2007 and 2008 "i Solisti" played in two original projects by Umbria Jazz, with Stefano Bollani and Ricardo Arrighini.
"I Solisti" gave concerts in very important Musical Festivals like the "Pablo Casals" in Pradès, the "Serate Musicali" in Milan, the "Le Nuits de Suquet" in Cannes, the "Scarlatti" in Naples, the "Sagra musicale Umbra", the "Festival Barocco", the "Festival delle Nazioni", the "Fugato Festival" in BadHomburg, the "Mùsica a l'Estiu" in Xàbia (Valencia), the "Music in Rhodes" in Rodi. The group has also performed with major artists like J.P. Amoyal, F. Bognar, B. Canino, E. Dindo, C. Gasdia, S. Gawriloff, W. Hink, Th. Indermuhle, K. Leister, M. Lethiec, W. Meyer, F. Mondelci, M. Moretti, G. Tacchinò, K. Toyama, M. Turkovich, W. Schulz, and others.
The complete portfolio of the group's recordings is very rich. There are about twenty titles for the Japanese record company "Camerata Tokyo". The portfolio includes records in which famous soloists are accompanied by the group, as well as records in which one of the members of the group is performing as a soloist. Other recordings, with classical compositions as well as debut compositions, were produced by La Maggiore, Umbria Jazz and Tactus. Prestigious musical magazines like Amadeus, CD Classics and Mostly Classic offered high critical acclaim to many of these CDs.
During their many international tours, the musicians of the "I Solisti di Perugia" have been ambassadors for the best of Italian musical tradition, as always, with their own unique style and interpretation.
